About Me and Budding Minds

I chose to call my practice Budding Minds as the name itself is very symbolic to my mission. My aim as an Educational Psychologist is to help children, adolescents, parents and families to grow into the best versions of themselves. I have a special interest in learning and development, and how this affects an individual’s overall function. I believe that learning and development are the roots that help children to grow and so my mission is to help create a healthy system for them to do so.

Additionally, I am trained to assess cognitive, academic, emotional functioning, and apply psychological interventions to enhance learning and development. This can be achieved through psycho-educational assessments, or through therapeutic interventions, such as play therapy. I am trained to identify barriers to learning and how to provide the necessary interventions related to this.

In 2017, I completed my research on how Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can affect the family with specific interest in the sibling.

About Me

I completed my Master’s Degree in Clinical psychology at North-West University, where I was trained in an integrative manner enabling me to adapt a holistic therapeutic approach to the unique needs of my clients.

I completed my internship at Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital and my community service at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital which gave me the opportunity to not only work with a variety of mental health disorders but to also help and provide therapy to a range of diverse individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Prior to my clinical psychology training I practised as a Psychometrist for two years and gained valuable knowledge and skills in various psychological assessments.  My comprehensive and multi-faceted training enables me to assess cognitive, behavioural, emotional and personality functioning. Furthermore, it allows me to apply evidence-based interventions which not only provide coping mechanisms but also enhance mental health functioning and wellbeing.

I have a passion for working with children and adolescents as I feel that the therapeutic space can contribute to the development of a solid foundation for optimal mental health and well-being which can continue to flourish well into adulthood.

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Trauma
  • Depressive disorders
  • Autism spectrum disorder
